Charles Wakefield

Charles Wakefield, A.O.C.A.D., M.A.Sc.

Born and raised in Quebec, the artist graduated in both arts and science from McGill before working in mineral exploration in Canada’s northland. The artist fell in love with the rustic beauty of the north, while at the same time becoming increasingly concerned about the incredible destruction of wildlife habitat he witnessed in the north. After three years of living out of a hockey bag, the artist came to Toronto to study painting at Ontario College of Art, (now OCAD U). He now divides his time between working full time as a Professional Geoscientist and a figurative and landscape painter.

After concentrating on painting the human figure for nearly 10 years at OCA, the artist graduated and turned his attention to painting landscapes and cityscapes, mostly in Toronto, Ontario and Quebec. Weather year round and its effect on both land and water has been a constant source of inspiration, as have been the redevelopment of our urban landscapes.
